Tenkhoff Properties develops the „Marienplatz-Galerie Schwerin“ in a prime location of the old city center of Schwerin, the capital of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, in a joint project partnership with Generali Deutschland Immobilien GmbH and AachenMünchener Versicherung AG. On an area of circa 15,300 m² of rental space the modern centre of the latest generation has been planned with more than 50 shops distributed over four levels (basement, ground floor, 1st and 2nd floor). The underground car park will provide 148 parking spaces. Above the retail storeys, on the 3rd and 4th floor, a new 2 star plus hotel with 100 beds will be realized.

The opening of Marienplatz-Galerie is planned for Spring 2011.

The traditional shopping areas in the inner city of Schwerin are Marienplatz and Mecklenburgstraße. Due to its size and concept the Marienplatz-Galerie will amend the excellent retail trade in Schwerin’s inner city and expand the offer of attractive and modern retail space.
With the link-up of the Marienplatz-Galerie to the established fashion store Kressman the connection from the main traffic junction and top inner city location Marienplatz to Mecklenburgstraße, the former shopping promenade, will be established.

The city authorities strongly support the project. In time for the opening of the center in the spring of 2011 the Marienplatz will be completely rebuilt.
Beyond that extensive rebuilding measures on the occasion of the national horticultural show (BUGA) in 2009 had a very positve influence on the infrastructure and cityscape. The direct linking of Schwerin with holiday areas at the Baltic Sea by the new highway A14 generates a new visitor potential.
The development and design of the Marienplatz-Galerie will sustainably influence Schwerin and bring new glamour into the inner city. It will enhance the attractiveness of the urban Marienplatz, in additon to the planned municipal rebuilding.

As a direct effect new development potential in Schwerin’s inner city as a main retail area for the whole region will be created.
